Mental Health Matter- Let's Heal Up
What is Mental Health? Is it having a good and intelligent brain? Or is it having good personal relationships to keep you happy? Or is it being fit and having a smooth and good lifestyle? Or is it having a job and being good at your workplace? Yes, these all come under good mental health. As a psychological definition mental health is basically physical, social, behavioral, spiritual, emotional well being and it comprises everything which makes one happy and filled with the desire to live on. As we live in the 21st century, so to be aware of our surroundings, on keep themselves updated with all the news and updates going on. Likely, everyone is about what is mental health and it matters in one’s life. But, the main thing which is still not clear and most people are not even aware of it is, how to identify that something is wrong with the person without stigmatizing them and how to express one’s feelings and problems in society without being ashamed and embarrassed about it.
Have you
ever experienced that sometimes everything is right but is not right for the person
himself without any reason? So, everyone feels anxious or depressed time to
time depending on their life situations, but every time it cannot be considered
as a mental illness or mental health issues. A big difference between them is
mental illness deteriorates and impairs a person overall functioning which
includes personal, social as well as occupational functioning in contrasts
feeling anxious sometimes is normal and it does not deteriorate the person’s
functioning further. But, here the main question arises how to identify that a person or his closed persons or any other is going through some kind of mental
illness. So, below are some pointers which are some warning signs that will
help one to identify mental health issues-
*being sad
and worried throughout the day
*Excessive
fears or repetitive thoughts about the same person, event or an object
*Eating too
little or too much
*lack of
sound sleep, symptoms of insomnia
*isolation
or alienation from family, friends and closed ones
*Being
violent, constantly picking fights with friends, family, and other people,
getting aggressive very easily, breaking objects
*Detachment
from reality in terms of having delusions or hallucinations (About which I will
talk about in my next blog)
*Substance
abuse may develop which includes the use of intoxicant substances such as drugs,
alcohol, heroin, cocaine, marijuana, etc at an unprecedented and rapid rate
*Sex drive
may change; a person can strive for more sexual needs or can be more alienated from
sexual drives and start avoiding these drives
*Overpowering
of suicidal thoughts which can even convert into suicidal gestures and
tendencies
*Extreme
mood changes, feeling high and low
*Inability
to perform daily tasks which at some point of time were very easy
The symptoms of mental health issues are different for each disorder, but the above pointers are some common symptoms that one can experience while going through a mental illness. But, how one can keep their mental health well? Below are some pointers which will help one to prevent oneself from being surrounded by any mental health issues or illness-

in your sleep patterns. Sleep is really important for one and it can make or
even break your day. Taking a sound sleep also keeps your mind peaceful and open
to new ideas.
*start one’s a day with 10 minutes gratitude where one can thank god and other people and
things they have in their life. And, gratitude should be followed by doing
visualization for 5 minutes which will give a sense of goal and purpose to the
person.

consuming food items or beverages that make oneself happy or have a calming
effect on depression such as coffee is linked to lower rates of depression.
